Aside from the requirements for routines on uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise, gymnasts can incur a 0.1 deduction if the routine is not difficult enough. This is called an "up to level" deduction. Each event has ways of preventing this from happening, usually a skill or combination.
Uneven Bars[]
Only one of these need to be fulfilled to avoid the "up to level" -0.1 deduction.
Skill or Connection
Example 1
Example 2
a same bar release of D value
straddled Tkatchev
piked Geinger
a release element of E value
Comaneci
van Leeuwen
two D releases
bail to handstand
straddled Jaeger
two E skills
Church
full-twisting double layout dismount
Balance Beam[]
ALL of these need to be fulfilled to avoid the "up to level" -0.1 deduction.
Skill or Connection
Example 1
Example 2
acrobatic elements both backwards and forwards/ sidewards
back handspring + back handspring + LOSO
free aerial + beat jump
if no CV is earned in the acrobatic series, the routine must have either another D acro or E dance element
front tuck (D)
illusion turn (E)
Floor Exercise[]
ALL of these need to be fulfilled to avoid the "up to level" -0.1 deduction.
Skill or Connection
Example 1
Example 2
routine must include either one E element or two D elements (one of which must be acro)
piked double front (E)
2½ twist (D)
combo pass must have one C+ salto
front layout full (C) + front pike (A)
whip (A) + double tuck (D)
routine must have forwards and backwards salto

forward double twist
one bonus tenth must come from a dance element or two dance elements done in bonus combination

On uneven bars and balance beam, if a gymnasts falls off mid-routine and takes too long to remount the apparatus, they are given a zero.
Downgrading of Skills[]
If a twisting skill is underrotated to the point of not fully completing the twist, it's downgraded to the next twist (i.e., an incomplete 2½ twist is downgraded to a double twist).
The same applies to turns, paying attention to when the heel drops in the turn. If the heel drops too early, the turn is downgraded.
If a laid-out vault is severely piked or tucked in the air, it's downgraded to the piked or tucked variation, depending on the body position in the air.
Neutral Deductions[]
Neutral deductions are taken off the final score.
0.10 Deduction[]
one foot stepping out of bounds on floor exercise
finishing a balance beam or floor exercise routine past the 90-second time limit
0.20 Deduction[]
two feet stepping out of bounds on floor exercise
landing out of bounds with both feet on floor exercise
